Many businesses run on software that was once exactly right. By now, it's slow, hard to change, or dependent on the one person who still knows how everything works. Replacing it feels like a big risk, so the patching goes on. We help you modernise that software: we figure out what's really running, keep what works and renew the rest, without bringing your day-to-day work to a standstill.

How we help

  • Rebuild

    An outdated application rebuilt on a modern, maintainable foundation.

  • Data migration

    All your existing data and users move to the new system, without interruption.

  • Extend instead of replace

    Sometimes a modern layer on top of your existing system is all you need.

  • Secure and maintainable

    Up-to-date technology that gets updates again, and that other developers can understand too.

Signs your software is due for modernisation

Legacy software isn't necessarily old. It's software that holds your business back more than it helps. Familiar signs:

  • small changes take weeks, or are discouraged because something else might break;
  • knowledge of the system sits with one person, or with a vendor that no longer exists;
  • it runs on technology that no longer receives security updates;
  • employees work around the system, with exports, spreadsheets and duplicate data entry;
  • an integration or an app isn't possible, because the system was never built for it.

First, understand what's running

Before we replace anything, we figure out how the current system really works. Not just the code, but above all how people use it. Old software often hides years of business rules that aren't documented anywhere, and we want to bring those to the surface before we touch a thing. At Granuband, we fully analysed the inspection machine, its software and the classification logic. As a result, errors that had been unexplainable finally became clear.

Modernise step by step

Replacing everything at once is rarely wise. We prefer to modernise in steps: first the part that causes the most pain or carries the biggest risk, then the rest. Where needed, old and new run side by side for a while, so your work simply carries on. Every step delivers something usable, and after each step you can change course. Sometimes your existing system turns out to be fine as it is, and a modern layer on top, such as a new interface or an integration, makes all the difference.

Your data comes with you

Often the most valuable part of an old system is its data: customers, history, settings. We migrate it with care. At De Dieu, we rebuilt the existing members' app into a complete platform and migrated all users and data without interruption. For De Whisky Specialist, we replaced the outdated website with a new Shopify foundation, while preserving the character of the store.

What does software modernisation cost?

That depends on the size of the system and how much needs to be replaced. That's why we start with an analysis of what's running and what's needed. After that, you know what the steps are, what each step delivers and what it costs. Because we work in phases, you don't have to invest everything at once. And don't forget the cost of doing nothing: the time employees lose to workarounds, and the risk of a system failing when nobody dares to touch it anymore.
