Impackt

The brief

No deposit, but you still earn discounts for returning empty plastic packaging.

Impackt rewards consumers for returning packaging that carries no deposit, such as detergent bottles. This creates a relatively clean plastic stream that is suitable for recycling and reuse.

What began as a Raspberry Pi with a barcode scanner grew into a mobile app and a scalable platform. Consumers scanned their packaging, saved points and exchanged them for discounts at Wibra and other participating brands.

The app

Instant insight into points and environmental impact

Users see at a glance how many points they have saved, how many items they have returned and the positive impact on CO₂.

Results

From empty detergent bottle to discount at the till.

We handled the full software development: from the first prototype to the mobile app, website and the systems behind them. The platform had to process recycling transactions reliably, keep track of point balances and issue digital vouchers, even when consumers use the system at several locations at the same time.

That is how Impackt grew from a first MVP into a complete recycling platform, rolled out to more than 75 Wibra stores across the Netherlands.
